Barbell - Bent Over Row With Underhand Grip and Return to Floor

submitted by sandsteelpaul on 09/27/17 1

Hannah Demonstrates the Barbell Bent Over Row with Underhand Grip TECHNIQUE: This movement is done by standing in a deadlift stance. With a slight bend in the knees, a hinge forward in the hips and the shoulders "screwed in." The bar is gripped with an underhand grip then is deadlifted to about the knees. This position is where the row takes place. Keeping the head down for a neutral spine and shoulders locked for the entire movement. ADVANTAGES: This is a great adaptation of the standard bent over row. The full return to the ground makes it much more difficult as it requires the full extension. FAULTS: It is easy to have the tendency to want stand up taller and row from that position. As well as let the back arch and allow the shoulder to come forward. SCALING: This can be modified by removing the return to the ground portion of it, as well as by using different pieces of equipment such as a sandbag.
