Barbell - Frankenstein Clean

submitted by sandsteelpaul on 05/21/17 1

Technique- Perform like a regular clean but at the top shoot your hands straight and let the barbell rest on your shoulders. This way the bar will rest in the true rack position. If you do not shoot your elbows up fast enough and try to straighten your arms the bar will be too low and will roll off your arms. Start slow and work up to a faster transition. It should be smooth with no pause. Advantages- Improves speed of elbows and helps reduce any wrist injuries. Quick elbows. Faults-Keep the bar close and do not throw it onto your self. This move does not hurt. If the barbell crashes down on you you are throwing it. If you have to pull the barbell in it's wrong. Let it ride straight up your body and then release the hands. Do not let it come off your body. Scaling- This can be done with just a PVC pipe to avoid any bruising if the bar crashes down. You can also practice Frankenstein squats to better understand the Frankenstein position.
