LOMAX - Teaser

submitted by NAMAC on 06/15/14 1

In 1941, folklorist Alan Lomax was sent from the Library of Congress to the Mississippi Delta to record an oral history of the Blues. Hauling 500 pounds of audio equipment powered by his car battery, he ventured across nameless roads to discover the most beautiful and harrowing songs ever sung.

Presented by the Association for Cultural Equity, Alan Lomax’s founding organization, this spirited folktale reimagines his meeting with Bill Henley, an elderly recluse living in the backwoods of Lula, Mississippi.

Starring Chicago bluesman James "Tail Dragger" Jones, protégé of Howlin' Wolf and Georg Koszulinski as Alan Lomax, the film honors a fearless crusader and the countless people he gave voice to, in both their human and mythic capacities.
