We had modest beginnings in the 1980s. Prior to this, our company's founder Roland Tay worked as a coffee boy at the adjacent funeral home, serving drinks to mourning families and visitors. The stark difference in burial service quality between the wealthy and the poor depressed Roland. The wealthy could afford lavish wakes and funerals, while the poor had to make due with the absolute bare minimum.
That inspired him to make affordable funeral services available to everyone, and with a leap of faith, Direct Funeral Services was founded.
