Carlos Pascual, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, gave a comprehensive presentation on current issues impacting our neighbor to the south at a program on November 8th. The Ambassador addressed immigration, border security, violent drug cartels, and trade. The program was co-sponsored by Texas Monthly. Carlos Pascual has served as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico since his confirmation in August 2009. Most recently, Ambassador Pascual was Vice President and Director of the Foreign Policy Studies Program at the Brookings Institution. Previously, he had a 23-year career in the United States Department of State, National Security Council, and the United States Agency for International Development, including serving as coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization at the U.S. Department of State, where he led and organized U.S. government planning to help stabilize and reconstruct societies in transition from conflict or civil strife. He has also served as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine.
