Jimmy Carter served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981. Among his many foreign and domestic achievements as president, Mr. Carter is perhaps best known for negotiating the Camp David Accords and subsequent peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. In 1982, he became University Distinguished Professor at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and founded The Carter Center.
