On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, Ambassador Ken Edelman and historian H.W. Brands joined Friends of the LBJ Library members for their "An Evening With" Speaker Series to discuss the life and legacy of our 40th president, Ronald Reagan. The event was moderated by LBJ Library Director Mark Updegrove. Ken Adelman was U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and then arms control director for President Reagan, accompanying him on his superpower summits with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Ambassador Adelman has written six books, including "Reagan at Reykjavik – Forty-Eight Hours That Ended the Cold War." H.W. Brands holds the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at The University of Texas at Austin and has written prolifically on American history and politics. His latest book, published earlier this year, "Reagan: The Life" tells the story of how Reagan came to power and ultimately transformed American politics.
