On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, the LBJ Presidential Library hosted two of Texas' most recognized authors, Lawrence Wright and H.W. Brands. Wright and Brands examined how Texas became a national leader, the current state of affairs, and the future of the Lone Star State. The conversation was moderated by Dr. Kurt Graham, director of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum. /// ABOUT Lawrence Wright is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, screenwriter, playwright, and a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine. His latest book, "God Save Texas: A Journey into the Soul of the Lone Star State," explores the history, culture, and politics of Texas with humor and biting insight only a native Texan could provide. "God Save Texas" is a New York Times Notable Book, an NPR Best Book of the Year, and now a finalist for the National Book Critics prize. H.W. Brands is the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at The University of Texas at Austin.
