20th Century Time Machine - The Internet Archive's Annual Celebration 2017

submitted by Marvin's Underground Evening Lectures on 11/30/21 1

We invite you to enter our 20th Century Time Machine to experience the audio, books, films, web sites, ephemera and software fast disappearing from our midst. We’ll be connecting the centuries—transporting 20th century treasures to curious minds in the 21st. Starting at 7 p.m., we’ll unveil the latest media the Internet Archive has to offer, presented by the artists, writers, and scientists who lose themselves in our collections every day. The 20th Century Time Machine features video from artist Laura Hyunjhee Kim, a welcome address from Internet Archive's Jason Scott and Tracey Jaquith, a deep-dive into our 78s project by Director of Collections Alexis Rossi, the Internet Archive Hero Award presented to Boston Public Library, exciting news about our Books Collections presented by Internet Archive Founder Brewster Kahle, recently discovered and digitized footage of the closing of the Jerome, Arkansas Japanese Internment Camp, presented by Director of Partnerships Wendy Hanamura, film archivist Rick Prelinger with firsthand testimony by Sab Masada, a Hypercard revival and finally, a glance into the history of the Web from the Wayback Machine's own Mark Graham and Vinay Goel. Come fall down the rabbit hole with us! Event will last approximately 2 hours.
