The rifftastic ‘Burn Baby Burn’, with a scorching hot cheerleader video, put the rock back in the singles chart at Lucky 13 in April 2001. The second single from platinum-selling album ‘Free All Angels’, ‘Burn Baby Burn’ led the way for ‘Free All Angels’ to beat Janet Jackson to the coveted Number One spot when the band released their third full-length album, and follow up to 1998’s ‘Nu-clear Sounds’, in May 2001. The first of many Ash videos to be directed by Jeff Thomas, the ‘Burn Baby Burn’ video was shot at in the gymnasium Selsdon High School, Croydon and features a troop of cheerleaders and The London Towers basketball team. The cheerleaders joined the band when they performed the single BBC’s iconic Top Of The Pops TV show. ‘Burn Baby Burn’ was awarded Best Single at the 2002 NME and Q Awards. It was also the first song ever played on BBC 6 Music radio station.
