D&C 125-126 were recorded in 1841 and then there was a 14-month gap before D&C 127-128 were recorded. Revelation was ongoing, but it was not canonized. 4:12 D&C 125 The settlement opposite of Nauvoo was to be named Zarahemla. 6:22 D&C 126 Revelation to Brigham Young. He spent the first nine years in the Church serving missions. His offering is acceptable to the Lord. 11:50 Spring 1842 – The establishment of the Relief Society. Words related to “relief” include alleviate, elevate, leaven, relevance, lung, elevation, and elevator. 18:04 May 3, 1842 – Joseph Smith presents the endowment to nine men in the upper room of the Red Brick Store. Through the next two years, 50 members are endowed. 22:07 The endowment is the process of being clothed in knowledge, glory, and goodness. The endowment allows members to learn through story and to interactively participate in the story of salvation. The endowment is rich in symbolism. 28:48 D&C 127-128. Shortly before these revelations were given, Joseph went into hiding due to false accusations after an assassination attempt on Governor Boggs of Missouri. 35:30 D&C 127: 1-3 Joseph’s first letter while in hiding. We can see the difference between Joseph speaking under inspiration and Joseph speaking in the name of the Lord. We see Joseph’s growth through the tribulation he has experienced. 40:03 Verses 4-10: The Saints are encouraged to continue work on the temple and are given instructions about baptism for the dead. 42:15 D&C 128. More instructions are given about baptism for the dead and why a recorder and a record are needed. Teachings are included about the symbolism and importance of the baptism font and ordinance. We need our kindred dead as much as they need us. 50:58 Verse 18. There must be a welding link between the fathers and the children. The word “perfect” means to be complete, entire, fully, or whole. Everyone needs to be bound together into one great whole. God is working to save everybody. 54:23 Verse 19. “What do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness. . . a voice of mercy . . . a voice of truth. . . glad tidings of great joy.” 56:03 Verse 22. Joseph speaks prophetically, “Shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage brethren; and on, on to victory!” ____________________ This channel may make use of copyrighted material, the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner.
