For the past 20 years, Mauro Fortini has appeared behind almost every politician interviewed on Italian TV, armed with a pen in his mouth and waving a notebook. Even if he moves along with the other reporters and imitates their gestures, he is not a journalist. He defines himself as a “news attendee”, others call him a heckler. Every day he wakes up at 5AM, checks where the live broadcasts will be, and waits around ready to jump into frame.
