Act in Doctrine, Episode 37: We discuss Doctrine and Covenants 98-101 to supplement your study of the Come Follow Me curriculum for September 6–12. Our guest is Dr. Alex Baugh. He is a professor and chair of the Department of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University, where he has been a full-time faculty member since 1995. He received his BS from Utah State University and his MA and PhD degrees from Brigham Young University. He specializes in researching and writing about the Missouri period of early Church history (1831–39). We focus on three doctrinal takeaways: 1) The Lord wants his Saints to be law-abiding and active citizens that promote righteous constitutional principles. 2) Even under persecution or opposition, saints should extend forgiveness and withhold retribution. 3) The Holy Spirit can enable us to teach with power.
