Triumph of a City (2013) is a deconstructed film memory of the world's history that never was. Hard times, unemployment, and political unrest stir the global citizenry to search out a new social order that will define the next one-thousand years. On the brink of world revolution, one euphemistic city embraces apathy and short-sightedness, refusing to change. This is our city. Winnipeg filmmaker Aaron Zeghers combines original footage with the forgotten propaganda films of yesteryear, carving out his own political proclamation. With reverence for the past and a fear of the future, Triumph of a City is a political manifesto on revolution and a frustrated dialogue with one's hometown.
