On January 8th 2012 99%Media (or OM99%Media as it was known back then) went out to cover an event in the town of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, south of Montreal, to cover an event where citizens had decided to crash an open party held by the mayor of the town, a party that is traditionally intended for the citizens to meet their mayor and talk. The citizens of St. Bruno had been campaigning for over a year at that point to save a forest that the mayor allegedly colluded with a Canadian senator and real estate developer who wanted to cut down the forest and build homes for the supper rich. The mayor had been allegedly acting democratically and with total disregard to transparency in his dealings with this project and had been refusing to answers the legitimate inquires by the citizens who opposed the project.
