Not so Silent March

submitted by 99media on 06/07/14 1

On December 17th 2011, a group of protesters decided to have a silent march through out the underground malls of Montreal in an attempt to draw shopping peoples attention to the problems of over consumption by a society that has become materialistic and devoid of compassion. The protesters where followed by security guards and eventually police officers. These where still good times in Montreal. the police where friendly, and the security guards cordial. The protesters shook hands with the security guards and even hugged them and a the police to show them appreciation. At some-point the protesters abandoned the idea of a silent march and became very vocal. The result was beautiful moments of interaction with the public, the security guards, and the police. This kind of respect between protesters and the security forces is something that was lost in the following year when the Police started cracking down on the protesters in a futile effort to end them. This video stands as a reminder of how things once where.
