Enoch was a prophet and a very righteous man. The people there were happy and took care of each other. They listened to Heavenly Father and followed his commandments. There were no poor among them. They were pure in heart. They were so good in fact that their whole city was taken straight to heaven! They were so good that even now thousands of years later we look back to them as the example of how good we should be as a people. The early pioneers were told they needed to build up Zion or in other words they needed to be a people as good as the people of Enoch. You remember we talked before about the law of consecration? This was part of how they were supposed to build up Zion. Every family would go to Edward Partridge and give him everything they had. For most people they would then get back what they had given and even a little extra. Sections 51-57 were all given to Joseph Smith between May and July of 1831. During this time we see how the Lord can bless those around us by obeying him and hurt those around us by not following his commandments. Do you remember Leman Copley from last time? He had shared his farm so that new arrivals could live there which was a blessing to many people, but shortly after saying the people could live there he changed his mind and took the land away from them. #comefollowme #DoctrineandCovenants #scriptureexplorers #churchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #searchthescriptures #comefollowme2021 #D&C51 #lds #ldschurch #hearhim #lighttheworld #mormon
