Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki on Sunday accused Israel of committing “war crimes” as he urged international pressure at a United Nations Security Council session. Nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed while 10 Israelis are reported dead as the offensive on Gaza enters its second week. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate end to the violence and warned of an “uncontainable security and humanitarian crisis”. But the United States, who is Israel’s ally, has delayed the council meeting which produced no concrete results. China has accused the Biden administration of blocking a joint resolution on the crisis.
