El Movimiento 15M es un movimiento social surgido de la indignación popular y que eclosionó tras la Manifestación del 15 de mayo de 2011 que recorrió más de 50 ciudades de toda España y en la que participaron más de 200 asociaciones. Las principales demandas exigidas son un cambio radical en la política española (bipartidismo PP-PSOE) y el rechazo al desempleo, los recortes, la corrupción y a un sistema injusto que considera a las personas mercancías. Se exige que se cumplan los derechos básicos, como el derecho de acceso a la vivienda, el derecho al trabajo, a la participación política, a la cultura, a una sanidad y educación públicas y de calidad. A lo largo del año 2011 tuvieron lugar más de 200 acampadas y 600 asambleas (organizadas en grupos de trabajo) en las que se hicieron estas reivindicaciones y propuestas. Posteriormente se sucedieron Acampada Bankia (2012-2013), Inviernos al Sol (2013) y Acampada Mordaza (2015). Las manifestaciones y marchas cubrieron toda la geografía española. En estos años han aparecido más de 1 000 colectivos que concentran sus esfuerzos en luchas concretas. Algunos sectores como el de la sanidad o la educación públicas se han organizado en mareas, la marea blanca y marea verde respectivamente.
