King Zwelithini's wife 'demands 50% of estate'

submitted by Liket on 05/05/21 1

As the Amazulu Royal family prepares to inter the remains of late Queen regent, Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu, a legal storm is brewing to contest the estate of late king, Goodwill Zwelithini. This as his first wife, Queen Sibongile Dlamini, approached the Pietermaritzburg High Court, seeking to inherit 50 percent of his assets. In a 35-page affidavit, Dlamini argues that the customary union between the king and the late Queen is only recognised to the extent of the Recognition of Customary Marriages Act. As such, she was never eligible to ascend to the throne.
