In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, (AAPI) this read aloud video is a book about the life and times of composer, inventor & mathematician, Prince Zhu Zaiyu. Not only does this dynamic book tell the story about the courage & fortitude of Zhu Zaiyu, it also introduces us to the challenging experiences of his youth which motivated him to invent the Equal Temperament, the twelve musical tones, and the first to compose musical scores and invent musical instruments using these tones. Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities encompass a wide range of cultures and lived experiences, and each one is an important part of the American narrative. Their stories are American stories, and their voices deserve to be heard. Understanding the culture of an art form takes us into a deeper level of education that children and people of all ages can benefit from. Enjoy, take care & enjoy your day.
