The large McCallister family decides to spend the Christmas holidays in Florida, but little Kevin gets lost at the airport and misses a plane, thus finding himself in New York. While his parents look for him, the boy, thanks to his father's credit card, occupies a suite in the grand hotel and makes friends with a tramp.
