The Most Beautiful Thing is a story about a Vietnamese family living in the US and the power of a grandmother's love. Lullabies are an important part of Vietnamese culture. So, we will learn a Vietnamese lullaby to sing along to the story called, Cháu yêu bà, which means Grandma, I love you. We will also learn some geography and history of the Hmong people. Originally, I planned to share this lesson during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, but I don't think we can wait two more months to talk about, learn about and support our Asian brothers, sisters and students. It's vital to remember that the Asian community is NOT a monolith. Vietnam is only 1 of 48 countries in Asia... I hope this lesson will spark some understanding, curiosty and compassion in all who watch it. Please see the links below and do your part to STOP ASIAN HATE.
