Pope Francis has begun his trip to Iraq, becoming the first pontiff to visit. The head of the Roman Catholic Church says he is going as a “pilgrim of peace”. The number of Christians in Iraq has dropped in recent years, partly due to persecution from al-Qaeda and ISIL (ISIS). They hope that their struggle to survive will get a boost from Francis's historic visit.
