Apophis is a large near-Earth asteroid. It has a diameter of about 370 meters and a mass of 26.99 billion kilograms. On 6th March 2021, Apophis will make a fly by to our planet. At a distance of 0.11 astronomical units which is 40 times farther than the Moon. This would be our last chance to study Apophis before this asteroid returns in April 2029 and make a very close fly by to Earth only 19 thousand miles from the surface. Astronomers are worried about its 2068 fly by. On April 12, 2068, Apophis will return and there are 1 in 150,000 chances of it hitting Earth. The impact would be ~880 Million tonnes of TNT 65,000 times as powerful than Hiroshima nuclear bomb and could easily wipe out an entire country. Sirius is Moving Closer to Earth!
