Doctrine and Covenants 3-5 | January 18-24 Lesson 4—January 17 “My Work Shall Go Forth” #josephsmithsr #revelatoryrelationship #doctrineandcovenants Have you ever felt like all is lost? Or have you ever experienced an excruciating amount of loss? In Doctrine and Covenants 3, we learn that Joseph felt both of these to a painful degree. But in verse 10 it says, “But remember, God is merciful.” Wouldn’t that mean everything in a moment of sorrow and anguish? It’s the tender, but firm voice of the Lord that brings Joseph back to where he needs to be. In Doctrine and Covenants 4, we switch gears to Joseph Smith, Sr. who perhaps has been wondering, “Does God want to use me?” In this section, this is where he learns that he’s important, God sees him, and he’s worth saving. In verses five and six of Doctrine and Covenants 4, it can be easy to see all things you’re not. But instead of doing that, do these two things: 1. Find examples in the scriptures of how Christ does these things—how he’s patient, humble, kind, charitable, etc. 2. Instead of immediately finding the top three that don’t describe you, find the top three that do describe you. We invite you to think about how you have moved forward and learned from past painful mistakes. How can you create a home that celebrates mistakes? Real Talk is presented by Ganel-Lyn Condie & Scott Sorensen.
