For teachers, we hope these videos can serve as instructional materials in your classes. What makes this song so great is that affirms that this great country belongs to all of us… and that we should take care of it. Musically, it’s also a great song teach because of its repetitive rhythmic lines. These repetitive lines are perfect for adding different instruments to create an accompaniment without adding in too much complexity. For this video, we’ve added in a cup-rhythm line and a xylophone line. Designed for upper elementary students, our goal is to help students learn how to play the cups or xylophone while singing the song. Accomplishing that will require them to do multiple things at the same time while staying together with their fellow musicians- a task grown up musicians know quite well.
