Coronavirus: Canadian Government outlines criteria for removing soldiers from long-term care homes

Speaking in Ottawa on Friday, Canadian Minister of Defence Harjit Sajjan outlined the criteria that would need to be met before Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel would be withdrawn from long-term care homes in Ontario and Quebec. Those soldiers who have come to lend a hand in combating the outbreak of COVID-19 in this facilities have already started to pack up to make way for the Canadian Red Cross, which will gradually replace them starting on July 6. Long-term care homes across Canada have been pummeled by COVID-19 accounting for roughly 80 per cent of the country’s over 8,500 deaths as of Friday.
