The prophet Moroni is the only surviving Nephite in the land. The Lamanites kill anyone who does not deny Jesus Christ. Moroni will not deny Christ. Moroni writes about the Nephites’ destruction. The Lord showed Moroni the future day when the writings would come forth and be translated. Moroni knows the remnants of the house of Israel will read this record, and they will know the prophecies and covenants God made with them. Moroni encourages the people who read the Book of Mormon in the future to remember the Lord’s mercy and to never deny the power of God. Moroni says God always works according to one’s faith. Moroni tells the people in the future to ask God in faith, with real intent, if these words are true. He promises that the Holy Ghost will let them know the truth of all things. The final words Moroni writes are to ask all people to come unto Christ and be perfected in Him. Moroni counsels us to love God with all our might, mind, and strength. Moroni finishes the sacred record and buries it in the ground to preserve it. Joseph Smith is miraculously led to the sacred record.
