Step 3: Install the gedit program on your system to edit the desktop extension file. Then open the terminal and execute the sudo su command to switch to Root, then type your root password and press Enter. Step 4: List the files or folders on the desktop with the ls command and execute the gedit Cisco-PacketTracer.desktop command in the terminal. Step 5: In the file you opened, edit the Exec area as opt / pt / bin / PacketTracer7 and save the file. Step 6: Finally, configure the necessary permissions with the chmod command to enable the desktop shortcut icon.
