Step 2: After installing the VM Workstation software, click its shortcut to run it and click Create a New Virtual Machine. Step 3: In the virtual machine creation window, select Custom for more advanced settings, and click Next. Step 4: If you are using one of the old or new versions of the VMware program, you will see the version number installed on your computer in the hardware compatibility window. If you come across this video in the future, choose the newer version of the program. Step 5: In the Guest OS window, since you are going to install a Linux distribution, enable the Linux option and select Ubuntu 64 Bit from the drop-down menu just below it. Step 6: In the next step, you configure the storage location of the virtual machine you will create. Here, we recommend storing the VM on an external SSD or HDD. Step 7: Next, name the virtual machine and specify a minimum or maximum value according to the RAM capacity of your computer. Step 8: In the Network Type window, select Use Bridged Networking and click Next. Step 9: In the I/O Controller Type window, select the default value LSI Logic and continue. Step 10: Configure SCSI as a disk type. Step 11: Select Create a New Virtual Disk and click Next. Step 12: In Disk Capacity, enable the Allocate All Disk Now option and click Next. Step 13: You can change the disc name in the next window, but continue with the default name. Step 14: Finally, click the Finish button and wait for the virtual disk to be created. After the process is completed, add the Ubuntu ISO file from the CD/DVD device to the Use ISO Image File option and run the VM.
