This tutorial describes how to change daytime footage into a spooky, dark scene ready for horror stories. While shooting in a darker location with a good back light might work better (or straight-up masking out your subject), some effects layering works well too. In fix/enhance: drop the white balance color temperature all the way left, use edge enhancement and color enhancement. In color adjustment drop the hue a bit (so your footage turns a touch blue), drop saturation to around 35, Effects are Focus, BBC Colorize Glow, and Gamma Correction. In that order. Amounts of each will depend on your source footage. Focus darkens the edges of your footage. Use the Glow Blue Shadows preset and adjust it to taste, and it will give you a nice spooky blur and mimic the back light. Compress the gamma to further darken your footage.
