Who is Princess Sally? Princess Sally was the first female lead in the Sonic-series in America. After Dr. Eggman betrayed her father, King Acorn, he took over the majority of the world and turned its people into mindless robot slaves. Sally takes the mantle of the tough no-nonsense leader of a rebel group called the Freedom Fighters in order to save her home and find her father. Sally Acorn existed since 1991 (indirectly) before being adapted into a different character named Princess Sally Acorn for Sonic The Hedgehog (SatAM) in 1993. She continued to play a major role in the Archie Comics Publications run of Sonic The Hedgehog comic books up until their cancellation in 2017. If you wish to learn more about Princess Sally I recommend watching Sonic The Hedgehog (SatAM) and reading the Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog comic book series. Despite her obscurity, Princess Sally is an extremely well-known Sonic character to the point where she even has a small community of fans in Sonic's land of origin, Japan. Similarly to Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Squirrel, who celebrated their return in the critically acclaimed Sonic Mania Plus, she has received no mention beyond the comics that she originated from. She has existed for over two decades, creating memorable stories and fighting alongside Sonic The Hedgehog against Dr. Eggman, but after the comic's cancellation she slipped entirely into obscurity. However, the following IDW comics are frequently translated into Japanese and even received official merchandise 1 year since their publication. This is unfair to the fans of Archie's Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic SatAM, who struggled to bring Sally and the Freedom Fighters back into relevance, since Sonic SatAM and the comics shaped Sonic's characters until this day. Finally, the community rallied together in 2020 in order to have their favorite Princess represented as a playable character in the mobile-game developed by Hardlight, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle and Sonic Dash.  Note: This video is not suitable for children because of disturbing themes and discussions.
