Have you ever had a time of strong faith where seemingly nothing could cause you to waver? Have you ever then had a subsequent time of doubt? In our study this week, we saw that even John the Baptist who had boldly proclaimed "Look, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" had a moment where he is sitting in prison and sends two of his disciples to ask: "Are you (Jesus) the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?" Jesus didn't chastise John for this moment of doubt; He gave John reassurance! To be clear, Jesus didn't change his circumstances, but He met him at his moment of doubt with reassuring words. It is a faulty idea to believe that God is only with us and for us when everything is going "right" in our eyes!
