Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe During protests to commemorate Juneteenth, Black Lives Matter protesters toppled and burned the statue of General Albert Pike located in Judiciary Square in Washington D.C., on Friday night. Protesters began tore down the statue just after 10.00 p.m. local time (4.00 a.m GMT). After successfully bringing down the statue, it was lit on fire as protesters chanted in unison against racist policing as well as sharing their disdain for President Trump. A team of police arrived to put out the fire, without interacting with protesters. The location of the statue is directly in front of the city's police headquarters. General Pike infamously fought for the confederates against the freedom of the slaves and was an alleged Ku Klux Klan member. His statue was the city's last remaining confederate monument.
