We learned this from a recording of elder violinist Mariano Romero and Tomas Maes (mandolin) of Santa Fe. They were refreshing some tunes for the Baile de Cascarones in the late '80s, and Tomas luckily taped the session. He shared it with us 30 years later so we could hear and learn some of Mariano's music; I played the tune for Mariano over the phone the other day and he said he was happy to hear it for the first time in decades! Three-part polkas like this are more common around the border and are a testament to the long-standing musical exchange and connection between Northern New Mexico and South Texas/Northern Mexico.
