Enjoy this Culture Fix with USC Professor Nayan Shah and Great Grandaughter of Viola Ida Lewis, Candace Browne. Nayan Shah is Professor of American Studies and Ethnicity and History at USC. He is a historian with expertise in 19th and 20th century Asian American history and author of a book on South Asian migrants and their interracial relationships on the Pacific Coast and Southwest: Stranger Intimacy: Contesting Race, Sexuality and the Law in the North American West (University of California Press, 2011).
