EVER WONDER WHICH 'PUNK' IS THE BEST? ARE YOU TEAM CYBERPUNK OR TEAM STEAMPUNK? TEAM DIESELPUNK OR TEAM RAYPUNK? OR ARE YOU MORE OF A TEAM FANTASY KINDA PERSON? THIS GAME WILL ANSWER THAT FOR YOU. My senior graduating class and I were making a fighting game, and I knew from the beginning I just had to make cinematic for it. This Cinematic is my capstone project and I wanted to incorporate everything that I have learned about 3D Animation at UMASS Dartmouth CVPA. From Modeling, Rigging, Animating, Texturing, Environments, Lighting and most importantly collaboration. I wanted to tackle the most tedious aspects of this project such as facial rigging, expressive animating, lighting and volumetrics, and music synching to name a few. though this may be a showcase of my skills, I also wanted to recreate a production pipeline and incorporated my colleagues skills as well such as Jordan Arudda’s texturing skills In Substance Designer, Dan Medeiros’ rigging, and props and environments from Cody Hidago and Mitchell Szmyt. The characters were originally designed by Pharaoh Jackson, Vanessa Mack, Trevor Williams, And Alex Kephart. We wanted to replicate what it’s like to work in a studio environment, so much so that we called ourselves OMNI GAMES meaning ‘all’ complete with a logo that I designed. The softwares used are Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Illustrator, Substance Painter, Vegas, Blender, and Rendered with Redshift. One thing that I have learned from this experience is in order to have a steady production pipeline, it is essential to have the fundamentals in 3D Animation correct. With proper topology comes a good rig, and with a good rig comes some great animations. And then the possibilities are endless with the creativity one can express with these. As a filmmaker, this is also a directorial exercise for me. I have been making animated short films for the past five years and when I heard we are making a video game, I just had to make a cinematic for it. I studied cinematics done for games such as Overwatch, League Of Legends, WOW, and Tekken with each one of them having an influence in this cinematic. I look forward to making more projects like these in the near future! -Joseph Bonifacio Director and 3D Generalist Music: Apashe - Battle Royale (Feat.
