After that he started to teach them to people. After a little while he had to find a place where he could teach a lot of people and he found a beautiful place called the Waters of Mormon. He had to teach them far away from the city because he didn't want to get caught by King Noah. There he taught the people to believe in Jesus. He also taught them that they needed to be baptized. A lot of people came to learn and they wanted to be baptized. Alma told them that if they wanted to be baptized they had to make some promises to Heavenly Father and do their best to keep them. They promised to help each other with hard things, to help each other feel better when they were sad and to try to be like Jesus everywhere they went. This is what the people wanted, and so Alma baptized them. After they were baptized they met together to pray and to learn about Heavenly Father. But King Noah heard about their meetings and he didn't like it. So he sent his army to kill them. Heavenly Father warned Alma that the army was coming and he was able to leave with all his people before they got there. Things started to go pretty bad for King Noah after this. A lot of his people started to see that he was not a good King. One of his soldiers named Gideon came to kill Noah, and Noah ran away. Gideon would have killed him, but Noah got up on the tower and saw the Lamanites were coming. Noah pretended he would help his people fight the Lamanites but really he just wanted to escape. Noah told the people they should run away. He told the men to leave their wives and children and let them be killed by the Lamanites. The men were mad at the king, and they burned him, just like he did to Abinadi. They wanted to kill his priests too, but the priests ran away before they could kill them.
