Guilty Of Innocence: The Lenell Geter Story (1987) | Dorian Harewood Debbi Morgan

submitted by Tiffany Williams on 04/28/20 1

No one but the jury, the judge and the prosecutors believed that Lenell Geter (Dorian Harewood) could commit armed robbery, but they were enough to send him to a Texas prison for LIFE! Dabney Coleman stars as an initially doubtful attorney who becomes passionately dedicated to winning the freedom of a man he knows is innocent. Callous District Attorneys and "eyewitnesses" convince the all-white jury that Geter, a quiet, hardworking engineer is guilty of armed robbery. A judge slams him with a life sentence. Only the heroic efforts of his public defender, his boss (Hoyt Axton), and an attorney from the NAACP (Paul Winfield) keep the case alive. And only after "6o Minutes" exposes the slipshod prosecution do the wheels of justice finally turn. Shared for historical purposes. I do not own the rights. #### Reelblack's mission is to educate, elevate, entertain enlighten, and empower through Black film.
