Nathaniel Rateliff - And It’s Still Alright (Studio Performance) You could say Nathaniel Rateliff wears his heart on his sleeve. More accurately, Rateliff wears tattoos on his sleeves; His heart shines through his voice. Early on in his career, The New York Times compared the former church choir singer to Johnny Cash — indeed, the hard-drinking, Lord-forgive-me sentiments boded similarity. Wider success, however, found Rateliff through his The Night Sweats project. Americana fused with R&B, the group produced “S.O.B.,” which flew up the alternative charts back in 2015. Now, back in the saddle solo, Rateliff continues his exploration of bluesy-folk, or is it folksy-blues? Either way, the new EP ‘Time Stands’ sounds more like bleary-eyed Gregory Alan Isakov than boozy James Cleveland.
