GERSHWIN'S "Summertime" - reharmonized by Jazz pianist Andy Wasserman for the 3C Trio

submitted by Andy Wasserman on 02/07/20 1

"Summertime" is most often represented as the slow ballad in a minor key from the 1935 Opera "Porgy and Bess." This arrangement by Andy Wasserman takes a new approach, re-harmonizing the song in a Major key at a up-tempo Jazz swing, reflecting the energy, happiness and beauty that can be enjoyed on a gorgeous summer's day. Performed by the 3C Trio: Andy Wasserman, piano; Lisle Atkinson, bass; with a very inspired solo by master drummer Joe Licinski. One of most covered songs in the history of the American Songbook, "Summertime"was composed in 1934 by George Gershwin.
