In 2002, the photo identification initiative Project Naming was born—a ground-breaking partnership between our organization, the Government of Nunavut, and Nunavut Sivuniksavut. For nearly two decades, Project Naming has forged meaningful connections with Indigenous communities by decolonizing our archival collection and leveraging community knowledge to improve descriptions.
