November 19th 1863. 155 years ago today. President Abraham Lincoln delivered the 272 word "Gettysburg Address" on the field near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania only 4 1/2 months after the largest battle of the war. The speech was given as part of a dedication of a new National Cemetery to the fallen from the battle and quickly became perhaps his most famous speech.
