Part 5 of 5. Final conclusion to the ambitious 1982 CBS TV-miniseries re-creating the scope of the War Between the States. Based partly on a concept by historian Bruce Catton, it blends fact with fiction and battle scenes with personal drama that turns family against family. The plot unfolds mainly through the interwoven actions of a sensitive young artist named John Geyser, who breaks from his Virginia roots to become a war correspondent; and enigmatic Union officer Jonas Steele, who falls in love with John's Pennsylvania cousin who was born and raised in Gettysburg. This program originally aired in three parts on November 14th, 16th and 17th 1982. Music Composed and Conducted by Bruce Broughton (who also later created the excellent music for "Tombstone"). I grew up watching the VHS of this movie over and over again - recorded during the original broadcast by my Dad - and I wore out the tape (which I still have). This is the program that got me excited about American History and the Civil War, and this music triggers allot of memories. Enjoy.
