I am honestly excited to share with you all of the fun we had at the Ice Castles. These massive structures begin construction by artisans in fall. It starts with a little over 10,000 icicles, which are made by dripping water off strings. Once they have reached about 3 feet in length (0.9 m) all of the icicles are plucked and put into position. They then begin to spray and drip water on the structures overnight. It’s an elaborate process, which takes countless man hours and engineering knowledge. The result is a 25 million lbs (11.3 million kg) castle. Complete with slides, tunnels, domes, fountains, thrones, and spires. This attraction drives thousands of visitors each year to Dillon. In-fact the Utah based company that constructs these castles also operates in 6 other locations in North America.
