Exploring The Abandoned Remains Of The TB Disease Chest Hospital Join us as we explore this old abandoned TB Disease hospital . Please note this was a permission explore . HERE IS SOME INFORMATION ON THIS LOCATION. In 1891 the Eversfield Hospital and Home for Consumption and Diseases of the Chest and Throat was opened on land at West Hill Road given by the Eversfield Estate with Doctor Gambier in charge. This was a private hospital attracting wealthy patients and was absorbed into the NHS in 1948. In practice the hospital catered for TB patients, drawn from London, Middlesex, Surrey and Kent on the whole, until 1958 when the national decline of the disease caused a reappraisal of the admissions policy. From this point patients suffering from other chest complaints and chronically ill elderly people were increasing admitted and in 1968 a Geriatric Unit was established. By 1985 the in-patients were all elderly, as the Chest Unit had been closed. DISCLAIMER - Urban Exploring can be DANGEROUS. Please do not attempt this yourself .
