#AbandonedResort #Explore #PoconoResort The Poconos have always had a reputation for being a prime getaway within Pennsylvania. Nestled in the mountains, adventurers can ski or snowboard, lovers can be alone, or a busy family can catch up on some much-needed bonding time. The Unity House Resort began its life in 1892 and has sat vacant near Bushkill since 1989. The resort initially opened in 1892 as Forest Park, a summer park for German-speaking Jewish people. It was sold after WWI. In 1924, the resort was sold again, this time to the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, which was at the time the largest women's union in the country. The Garment Union opened it as the Unity House, and it operated as a vacation spot for garment workers for many years. The Unity Resort opened to the public for four years before it closed for good in 1989.The Unity House has stood abandoned ever since. The grounds look untouched, except for the years of decay that have aged them. Surprisingly, there is not much graffiti on the property, like there is on many abandoned properties.
