Back to Becket Quarry with AMAZING new discoveries 👀

It’s been a few years and the last time I explored the area it was winter. I decided to go back and hike all if not most of this glorious, historic mountainside quarry and I’m so glad I did. A little long but trying to condense it down to make a short vid would lose the full explore and I didn’t want a multi part video so go grab a coffee and join me on this fantastic hike with breathtaking views. Thank you so much and as always.... Happy Exploring 🍃 The former Hudson-Chester quarry (known as Becket Quarry) was operational from the 1860s to the 1960s, when the business just simply stopped, leaving all of their equipment and machinery behind on the mountain. The land remained abandoned and nature began reasserting itself, going over the roads and leftover industrial hulks. When a new company wanted to reopen the quarry in 1999, the land was purchased by the local community and put into a public trust so that the natural beauty could be preserved and the disruptive work of mining could be avoided. (Although evidence of mining can be found) Scattered throughout the forest surrounding the quarry are old autos, dredging derricks, and buildings all being taken over by plants, vines and rust. In and near the quarry itself, piles upon piles of granite boulders offer beautiful views of the Berkshires and the perfectly still waters in the pit create a peaceful and powerful atmosphere.
