A walk around view of the Grand Theater in Alton Illinois. The Grand Theater was opened December 4th 1920 it was the Largest theater in Alton at the time and could seat around 1400 later seating was reduced to 1000. In 1954 CinemaScope was installed at the theater the last movies shown at the theater were a double feature of " Heavy Traffic" and "The nine lives of Fritz the cat" in 1977 Afterwards the theater was "temporary closed, but the temporary closing has lasted to this present day
